Moonshine Gypsies
A friend called me up for a last minute shoot for her new band. The band Moonshine Gypsies is comprised of singer-songwriters Caitie and Jessica. They played a bit for me during the shoot and they sound amazing. Check them out at Shiner's Saloon on Congress this Tuesday. Here's a quick teaser of the shoot.

Snow Day
Random cold front came through Texas while I was floating the river. Reminded me of the one day in Austin it actually snows. This year I woke up my neighbor Jen, and made her terrorize a small nomadic tribe of featureless snowmen. Does their ambiguity scare you? It should...

Abstractions
Here is a couple of images I made for Austin Community College's music department. On the angled shot of the mixing knobs, if you relax your focus like you are trying to find the 3-D image in a magic eye puzzle, the tops becomes bottoms like in Q-Bert. My inner nerd finds that soothing.

Digging Up the Past
I found this going through some slides I shot before I bought the 5D. I made this photo walking around New York with my first camera ever, the Canon Rebel 2000 and some 35mm Velvia. It's amazing how I can go back and find images that I previously hated and now love. It's even more so the other way around, when I wonder why I ever thought a particular scene was so fascinating. I feel like it's the same with memories.

America Rocks
After spending a day on the mountains of West Virginia firing guns and riding four wheelers, I sat on the front porch and watched the fog roll in before the storm. I love this country.

Update
I am now gainfully employed by McCormick and Schmick's and almost out of training. This week's update is more of a shout out to my friend Eden, who set me up with the job. My hat is off to a woman who wears many of them.

Down the Shore
Jafrani and I drove down the shore after leaving Philly. What we first thought was a light fog turned out to be air pollution. Horrible for breathing, but fantastic for soft, diffused sunset light. The strangest thing was watching the sun disappear over land instead of the ocean. I guess I prefer the Pacific.

Oasis Sunset Stitch
A series of ten images stitched together. I had just bought the 50 1.4, and while that was the wrong lens to use for this image because of the vignetting, i wanted to play. It's like a conversation I once had with my nephew.
Me: "Why are you kicking your train?"
Nathaniel: (As he continues his Godzilla like rampage on the train set.) "Because I like kicking the train."

Photos of the Week
Found this going for a walk while visiting family in Diamond Bar, CA. 30 second exposures seem that much longer when you're freaked out by strange noises coming from the bushes nearby. My cousin John stood guard with my maglite while I was on the ground trying to focus in the dark.
Fake Stonehenge outside of Kerrville. Thank you Brianne for for driving out to the middle of nowhere with me around 3am, after closing down the bar, and helping me play around with lights.
